The project DSeaM (Deep-sea Minding) is pleased to announce the launch of its official website and LinkedIn page.
Launched in January, the project led by the Faculty of Sciences of Univesity of Porto brings together researchers, teachers, and educational stakeholders to explore how deep-sea socio-scientific issues can be integrated into lower secondary science education.
Although the deep sea plays an important role in climate regulation, resource management, and environmental sustainability, it remains largely absent from formal education. DSeaM aims to help address this gap by developing learning materials, teacher training opportunities, and open educational resources for educators and students.
The project will investigate how deep-sea issues are represented in society and in the media, identify opportunities for curriculum integration, and co-create educational resources with teachers and other stakeholders.
